All-State and Honors Ensembles
Your students have the opportunity to audition for twenty-four All-State and Honors ensembles that rehearse and perform at the FMEA Professional Learning Conference every January.
Elementary Regional Festivals
Elementary students have the opportunity to perform in one of the Elementary Chorus or Orff Regional Festivals organized throughout the state by the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association.
Guitar Festivals
Each festival is a full day of guitar activity, including solo & ensemble performances from elementary, middle, and high school programs. Performers receive positive feedback and suggestions in the areas of technique, tone, musicality, and interpretation.
Steelband Festival
Provides school Steel Band programs a positive performance outlet and motivating goal. World-class clinicians provide instant feedback, and teachers become more knowledgeable in the craft of pan performance.
Crossover Festivals
A festival experience that will celebrate their students’ achievements in the area of cover song and original song performance. Modern Bands or popular music ensembles perform a 10-minute set of cover and original music and then have a 30-minute coaching session by a music teacher and producer from the hosting institution.
Digital Music Showcase
Students showcase their musical compositions in the areas of digital music production, live performance manipulating sound in real-time, and music synchronized with video or other performing arts. Accepted students are invited to present their work at the FMEA Conference in January.
Music Performance Assessments
In partnership with the Florida School Music Association, our component associations FBA, FOA, and FVA organize these interscholastic assessment events at the district and state level. They feature panels of highly trained adjudicators who provide detailed feedback and ratings based on fixed performance standards for large-ensemble, solo, and small-ensemble performances.
