June 10-11, 2026

Florida Hotel and Conference Center, Orlando, FL

The Florida Music Education Association, in partnership with its component organization, the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association, will present this leadership workshop to build elementary music leadership capacity throughout the state of Florida. This workshop will provide teachers with the opportunity to learn from policy experts and arts supervisors while collaborating with other teachers in job-alike circumstances to create solutions for local elementary music challenges.

This is a great opportunity for elementary music educators with an interest in leadership and advocacy who are committed to increasing quality elementary music access to students within their local community.

Helping current elementary music teachers build their leadership skills toolbox.

Access to elementary music looks different across the state depending on which district a child lives. We aim to provide aspiring elementary music leaders with the skills to support, advocate for, and expand quality elementary music access in Florida. This professional learning opportunity will provide team building, scenario-based problem-solving, guidance on laws relating to music education, and other skills needed to find success as a leader in Florida.

Application and Selection Procedure

Approximately 15 to 20 participants will be selected with the goal of including representation of teachers from various elementary music scenarios throughout the state, including rural/urban, those with no arts supervisors, those with limited access to materials/resources, and those serving counties without equal elementary music access.

The application deadline is April 17, 2026, and we hope to notify those who are selected by May 10. Housing and most meals will be provided. Registration will be $25.
