Analysis of data from all Florida 12th grade public school students consistently shows a strong relationship between individuals who participated in school arts experiences and higher academic success as demonstrated by grade point averages, scores on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) and math and verbal portions of the SAT exams.
The results show the positive effect of participation in arts-related classes on students from varying races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic levels. Students participating in eight or more semesters of arts classes benefited even more.
